Texas Educational Colorguard Association (TECA) is an organization dedicated to producing indoor competitions for Colorguards, Percussion units and Winds units across central and south Texas. Using our mission of
EDUCATION THROUGH PERFORMANCE – EXCELLENCE THROUGH EXPERIENCE, our goal is to promote and encourage the highest standards of creativity, performance, education, teamwork, passion, and inclusivity in all of our member units.

History

The Texas Educational Colorguard Association was founded in 1979 as the Texas State Colorguard Circuit by a group of educators in San Antonio, Texas including John and Donna Davis at Southwest High School, Bob Whipkey at Judson High School, and Alex Sanchez at South San High School.  Member units came from all areas of the state including west Texas, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley. Championships rotated between San Antonio, Houston and Dallas. This eventually led to the foundation of four great circuits offering contests in the pageantry arts across the state.
